Donna Jean Miller was born on December 11, 1940. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Bernice and Ambrose. Her father was a computer analyst for Union Oil while her mother was worked taking care of the family.
Donna was raised alongside her brother Donald. They were brought up in Norwood Park and Mills attended Garvy Elementary School and Taft High School. Donna then attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. While at the university, Donna became a member of the Delta Gamma sorority.
However, she only completed one year of course work before quitting to focus on her dancing career and this helped her gain stage experience in summer stock productions. Donna landed her first professional acting ole in Chicago during the production of Come Blow Your Horn.
She was later on cast in the touring production of My Fair Lady, bring her back to New York City. Donna also got a job on TV.

Donna Mills’ career started with her taking a television role playing a nightclub singer on the CBS daytime soap opera, The Secret Storm. She landed the role in 1966 and played Rocket.
Later on, she appeared on Broadway playing as Sultan of Bashir’s wife in the comedy Don’t Drink the Water. The comedy opened her up for her big screen debit in the crime-thriller The Incident in 1967 where she co-starred alongside Martin Sheen, Ed McMahon, and Beau Bridges.
The film was a box office success and opened her for more opportunities. In 1967, Donna received a regular role as Laura Donnelly in the soap opera Love is a Many Splendored Thing. However, she left the series in 1970 and moved to West Coast where she made her TV debut in the Lancer.
Donna has also co-starred alongside legend Clint Eastwood in the Play Misty for Me 1971 thriller. The role is considered to be her most prominent to date. Aside from her acting career, Donna Mills also launched her makeup line, The Eyes Have It. She even released a video showing how to apply different makeup looks as part of promoting it.
