Ryan Sheckler is an American celebrity who has made a name for himself because of his career. The professional skateboarder has won numerous medals at various skateboarding competitions, making him one of the celebrities in the United States of America.
Besides having a successful career as a skateboarder, Ryan is an entrepreneur and has starred in Life of Ryan, an MTV-produced reality series. The series ran from 2007 to 2009 and it portrayed him to the public as an expert skateboarder. Apart from the series, Ryan has starred in four seasons of Sheckler Sessions on Red Bull TV.
Early Life
Sheckler was born and raised in a family of three children. He was born on December 30, 1989, and grew up in California, alongside his two brothers Shane and Kane. Sheckler discovered his father’s skateboard when he was two years old, and that is how he was introduced to the sport.
Soon after that, he began training to skateboard. During an interview in 2012, the professional skateboarder revealed that he began skateboarding at the San Clemente Skate Park alongside his friend.
Skateboarding Career
Sheckler’s professional career began in 1998. He was sponsored by the Etnies skate shoe and Oakley, Inc., both of who made contact with him when he was only seven years old. Etnies invited the athlete and his brother Shane to their California headquarters and was given the first pair of Etnies shoes. He ended a professional relationship with the band in 1998.
In 2003, the skateboarder participated in the X Games summer and was the youngest gold medalist. He was thirteen at the time, and it opened more opportunities for the young athlete. In the same year, Sheckler also won competitions in Gravity Games, Vans Triple Crown, and the Slam City Jam.
After the medals, Sheckler joined the company, Almost which was founded by Rodney Mullen and Daewon Song. Ryan was promoted heavily by the team and he was featured in the inaugural video Almost: Round Three.
After spending four years in the company, Ryan left and joined Plan B Skateboarders. The new company consisted of skateboarders like Danny Way, Pat Duffy, and Brian Wenning among others. In 2007, the MTV reality television series “ Life of Ryan” premiered. The series featured the every day of Ryan and how he managed his career and personal life.
The series was filmed at Sheckler’s home in Sana Clemente, featuring his family childhood friends, and other professional skateboarders. After Ryan found that the show was getting in his career, he ended it in 2009 after three seasons.
