Early Life of Ty Pennington

Ty Pennington was born on October 19, 1964, in Atlanta, Georgia. His birth name is Gary Tygert Burton. He later adopted the surname “Pennington” after his stepfather but he opted to use Pennington as his professional name.

Ty Pennington was raised by his mother Yvonne Vickery and this came after his mother separated from his father but went on to get married again. The separation when Ty Penington was young and her new husband ended up adopting Pennington and his older brother, Wynn.

Pennington attended Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia. From there, he joined Kennesaw State University where he majored in art and history. Notably, Pennington took night classes and spent his day earning from landscaping and offering carpentry services.

Ty Pennington’s Modelling and Design Career

Pennington started his modelling career after he was approached by a scout during his final semester. The modelling scout enabled him to start a lucrative modelling career. Once he started his journey, Ty Pennington worked with Swatch, J. Crew, Diet Coke, and other reputable companies, adding to his reputation.

Through modelling, Ty Pennington has also managed to travel different countries, including Germany, Canada, Italy, Thailand, and Japan. Later on, he also began working as a set designer, which allowed him to utilize his passion for design and carpentry to create admirable results.

Notably, Ty Pennington was the set designer for “Leaving Las Vegas,” Ty Pennington is also the owner and the designer of his company, Furniture Unlimited, that is based in Atlanta and Los Angeles.

Ty Pennington’s Television Career

Ty’s television career enjoyed a breakthrough after he was cats as the primary carpenter in the “Trading Spaces” home makeover show. The show gained popularity and Ty held the role from 2000 to 2003. He then returned to it in 2007. Ty has also been involved as an actor in the independent film “The Adventures of Ociee Nash.”
